Sevilla secured a 2-0 victory over Osasuna at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Tuesday. The win moved manager Luis Garcia’s side up to sixth place in the La Liga standings.
Romero And Correia Secure Home Victory
Sevilla took the lead after 24 minutes. Chidera Ejuke provided the final pass for striker Isaac Romero. Romero finished the chance to open the scoring for the hosts. The home side then sealed the result late in the second half. Substitute Félix Correia found the net on 82 minutes. Iglesias provided the assist for the decisive second goal.
Clinical Finishing Overcomes Possession Deficit
Osasuna controlled the ball for large periods of the match. The visitors finished the game with 56 percent of the possession. However, they struggled to create clear opportunities against the Sevilla defence. Osasuna managed only two shots on target from 10 total attempts. Sevilla proved much more efficient with their attacking play. The hosts registered 13 shots with four hitting the target.
Sevilla Move Into European Contention
The victory improves Sevilla’s record to 17 points from 10 league matches. They now sit sixth in the league table. This position puts them firmly in the early race for European qualification. Osasuna dropped to 12th place following the away defeat. Manager Jagoba Arrasate must now prepare his team to bounce back. They remain on 11 points after 10 fixtures.
