Brazilian jockey Bernardo Pinheiro has returned to the UAE ahead of the new racing season, the Dubai Racing Club announced on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old jockey, who has a large following on Instagram, will once again ride for Salem bin Ghadayer’s Fazza Stables. He returns to the UAE after a successful stint in Malaysia, where he recorded an impressive 20.4 per cent win strike rate.
Pinheiro described his summer as a memorable one after competing in Malaysia.
After the previous UAE season ended, he spent two weeks in Brazil with family and friends before travelling to Kuala Lumpur.
During around four months of riding in Malaysia, Pinheiro recorded 38 winners, including victories in Listed races and a Group 1 event. He also finished his Malaysian campaign at the top of the championship standings with a strong win and place strike rate.
UAE Racing Season Begins on November 6
Pinheiro is now looking forward to returning to action in the UAE, with the new season scheduled to begin on November 6.
The jockey spoke highly of his experiences at Meydan Racecourse, particularly the atmosphere surrounding major race meetings.
He said riding a winner in a feature race at Meydan is one of the most rewarding experiences for a jockey, describing the venue as a world-class racecourse with a unique atmosphere.
Pinheiro Praises Life in Dubai
The Brazilian jockey also spoke about his connection with Dubai, describing the city as a place that offers something for everyone.
He praised Dubai’s lifestyle and said he enjoys living in a city that he considers welcoming and convenient. He also expressed his appreciation for how the city welcomed him when he first arrived.
Pinheiro enjoyed a successful UAE campaign last season, recording 44 wins and finishing third in the Jockeys’ Championship.
One of his notable victories came aboard Labwah in the Group 3 UAE Oaks, adding another major achievement to his UAE racing record.
With his successful Malaysian campaign behind him, Pinheiro will now return to the UAE track as he prepares for another season of racing with Fazza Stables.
