When it comes to professional wrestling, the current times are witness to a number of wrestlers who forayed into this career at a very young age, the former making his debut at just 16, while the latter known for breaking the record in 2002 when he became the youngest person to hold the WWE Championship at just 25. There is no specific age requirement to deter you from becoming a pro wrestler. Veterans sch as Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar bagged their first world title at quite a young age, and eventually went on to add many more feathers to their caps in the form of multiple championships.
Most wrestlers who make it big start at around 16-18 years, while some others begin as early as 13 years of age. The last few years have witnessed the rise of a number of inspiring women in wrestling, who stepped into the ring with élan and once they laced up their wrestling boots, there was no stopping them. This has encouraged WWE to sign a number of female wrestlers to their brand. These women have been training in the state of the artPerformance Centre and have thereafter, taken the wrestling world by storm. The following are some of the youngest female WWE Superstars on the current roster:
- Sonia Deville: one of the most underrated women superstars in the WWE arena today, she is just 25. She has a background in mix martial arts, and was ranked eleventh in the 2015 season of the WWE Tough Enough. In 2015, she signed a contract with WWE and was allocated to the Performance Center where she received training. Thereafter she joined the developmental territory NXT of WWE, and made her roster debut on RAW in 2017, alongside former Divas Champion Paige and Mandy Rose as they were pitted against Sasha Banks, Bayley, Mickie James, and Alexa Bliss. The stable got official recognition under the name Absolution.
- Sarah Logan: The Viking Princess of 25, Logan is best known as a member of the Riott Squad stable on RAW, which has quite a villainous repute. When she was signed to WWE, she was part of the NXT roster for a while, following which she went to compete at the Mae Young Classic. Logan was then kept away from TV for quite some time, but once that phase was over, she was back with a bang! Her main roster debut saw her alongside Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott, who together constituted The Riott Squad on an episode of SmackDown Live.
- Liv Morgan: aged 24, she was one of the youngest wrestlers to sign a contract with the company in 2014. Over the last few years, she has made her way through the ranks as a former NXT superstar who is now competing as a heel on RAW. Her roster debut on SmackDown Live aw her sharing the limelight with Sarah Logan and Ruby Riott. Equipped with oodles of in-ring talent, Morgan, despite having failed to achieve much in her early career in NXT, she has shown enough potential for the RAW or SmackDown Women’s Championship in the long run.
- Paige: having debuted in wrestling at the age of just 13, she managed to grab attention with her unique in-ring style. She went on to become the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion at just 20, and in the following year, she became the youngest Divas Champion after having made an impactful debut on the Raw after WrestleMania in 2014, defeating AJ Lee.
- Steffanie Newell: this Welsh wrestler suffered injuries just aftersigning for WWE, but once she recovered, the wrestling world had to sit up and take notice of her skills. Despite being just 23, she has been in matches alongside the likes of Mark Andrews and Pete Dunne. Her signing for WWE in 2017 was long overdue, if one takes into account that she was looked up to as one of the best female wrestlers in the UK for a long period of time.
Though there are many other youngsters struggling to make a mark in the WWE Performance Centre and WWE NXT, they are yet to create a stir on the main roster.
