Twitter reacts as Manchester United and Arsenal swap Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan

The swap deal, the biggest in Premier League history, has been in the making for the last week or so, with both Wenger and Mourinho confirming over the weekend that the deal was nearing completion.

Sanchez scored 80 goals for Arsenal since joining the club from Barcelona in 2014 and he will be looking to lead the Red Devils to plenty of titles in the near future.

''

On the other hand, Mkhitaryan endured a tough time at Old Trafford, falling out with Mourinho. However, he helped them win the League Cup and the Europa League last season, scoring in the final of the latter competition.

The long wait was finally over for supporters of both clubs, when Arsenal and Manchester United announced the completion of the transfers last night. As expected, Twitter erupted following the official confirmation of the swap and here, we take a look at the best tweets regarding the move.

When you realise Man Utd signed Van Persie and Sanchez for £24m combined and Arsenal paid them £16m for Welbeck.https://t.co/ufApufRMI2 pic.twitter.com/M1t9ymcekS

Alexis Sanchez: 'The chance to play in this historic stadium and to work with Jose Mourinho was something I could not turn down. I am very proud to be the first Chilean player ever to play for United’s first team.' #mufc

Arsenal without Alexis Sanchez, will never be the same.

Hate him or love him, what is undeniable is that Jose Mourinho is slowly but surely rebuilding MUFC's super club status both on & off the pitch. Still pinching myself that the likes of Alexis Sanchez is set to become an MUFC player. Few managers could have made this deal happen

Wenger on Mkhitaryan: 'Henrikh is a very complete player. He creates chances, he defends well, he can absorb distances and he’s very committed as well. I must say he’s a player who has all the attributes.' pic.twitter.com/BYMpQFSkQ1

I'll admit this much, Mikhi is better suited for Arsenal's playing style and we'll see an amazing side to his football there. If Aubameyang joins and Ozil stays, they could actually be very menacing going forward

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is not a bad player, it just didn't work at Manchester United. At times he was brilliant, other times remarkably poor. He's a very good fit for Arsenal. Wish him the best.

We would like to wish @HenrikhMkh the best of luck for the future after completing his move to Arsenal.

I don't like this 'mercenary' talk. Always hard when a top player leaves your favourite club, but how many people wouldn't change jobs for more money? #Alexis Sánchez didn't grow up as an Arsenal fan. If he wants to better himself, why not?#MUFC #AFC
