Manchester United reach out to sign Adrien Rabiot on Deadline Day

Manchester United have reached out to Paris Saint-Germain for Adrien Rabiot as they look to end their substandard transfer window on a high. According to a trusted French site in Paris United, the Red Devils have simultaneously enquired about Layvin Kurzawa.

At a budding age of 23, Rabiot has already made 208 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants, having scored 22 goals in the same period. Last season, he made a spectacular 50 appearances for Les Parisiens. The artful midfielder also has 6 caps for his nation.

Jose Mourinho has been moaning and cribbing all summer over the lack of activity in this trading period. According to the Portuguese, the club hasn’t invested much on the squad.

They have been linked all summer to defenders such as Harry Maguire, Jerome Boateng and Toby Alderweireld, but their inability in snapping up these players so far has left them in no man’s land. With recent speculations over Pogba’s potential move away from Old Trafford, they were sure to set their sights on someone who could supposedly fill in the boots of the former Juventus man.

Reports from ESPN suggested that Rabiot was about to sign a new deal with Thomas Tuchel’s side, but since he hasn’t yet, United saw a chance opened up for themselves. Also to mention, they entered the race late on after Barcelona’s and AC Milan’s interest in the 23-year-old cooled.

However, lack of time and Tuchel’s reluctance to let one of his favourite players leave suggests Jose Mourinho and co. might have to face defeat once more in this summer transfer window.

Probably, Jose will have to improve his players now, instead of adding new ones to his squad. His side faces Leicester City on the opening day of the all-new Premier League season.
