Chelsea star confirms he rejected PSG

Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kante has admitted that there was an approach from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. The French star was talking to RMC Sport when he made it clear that he rejected the move to the Ligue 1 champions.

Kante, whose role at Stamford Bridge has changed since Sarri’s arrival, revealed that he spoke with Chelsea once PSG made an approach to sign him. The club was not willing to let him go as they see him as a vital part of their team right now and in the foreseeable future.

'There was no urge to go elsewhere after the World Cup,' Kante told RMC Sport.

Continuing to talk about the interest from other clubs, Kante said, 'There were other clubs' interests but after talking to Chelsea, things were clear. The club is counting on me and I feel good. The next logical step was to continue to Chelsea.”

'There were some contacts [from PSG]. But after a discussion with Chelsea, I realised that the main thing was to feel good where I was. I am at Chelsea. It's good for me to stay at Chelsea.' added Kante.

PSG were not the only club interested in signing Kante this summer. The Frenchman was linked with Juventus and Barcelona as well but Chelsea were reluctant to sell the World Cup winner.

Reports suggest that PSG offered to double his wages should he agree to join them. However, Chelsea reportedly matched that offer and offered the midfielder a new contract.

Nothing has been reported on that ever since and it is claimed that the club is looking to get things sorted with Eden Hazard before anyone else. The Belgian’s contract expires at the next of the 2019/20 season and they are keen on keeping him at Stamford Bridge for the rest of his career.
