ARSENAL could use the money recouped off Alexis Sanchez to sign West Brom defender Jonny Evans, according to reports.
Manchester United are on the verge of completing the £35million capture of Sanchez with an announcement expected within days.
And Arsenal are keen to bolster their defensive ranks with the signing of Evans.
West Brom have since slapped a £23.5m price tag on the defender's head and admitted that they are prepared to lose him this transfer window.
However, Manchester City are also keen on taking him to the Etihad Stadium as they look to strengthen their grip on the Premier League.
According to the Sun, City lead the race for the defender's signature but Arsenal will be in with a chance if they move quickly.
Evans is said to prefer a move to the league leaders because he is a product of the United academy and is accustomed to the area.
But Pep Guardiola’s side are hoping to negotiate the price down to £20m.
And if they continue to dwell Arsene Wenger could steal in to sign the Northern Ireland international.
First the Gunners will wait for confirmation of Sanchez’s move to United.
Then they will strengthen their squad with a number of additions likely.
Along with Evans, the north London outfit are hoping to tempt Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the Emirates Stadium.
Bordeaux star Malcom is also wanted by the FA Cup holders.
