This KKR Player in Danger of Missing Out IPL 2020

48-year old cricketer Pravin Tambe who was snapped up by Kolkata Knight Riders at his base price of Rs 20 Lakh in the recently concluded IPL 2020 auction in Kolkata. He is the oldest player to be a part of this IPL season. Tambe is in danger of missing this IPL 2020 season after participating in the T10 League in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah last year. He bagged a hat-trick playing for the Sindhis against the Kerala Knights finishing with figures of five for 15.

He dismissed Eoin Morgan, Kieron Pollard and Fabian Allen of successive deliveries to register the hat-trick. He dismissed Chris Gayle of the very second delivery of his over. After bowling a dot ball, he dismissed Morgan, Pollard and Allen in the last three deliveries of his over.

Meanwhile, as per the BCCI rules, no Indian player is allowed to play in any foreign T10 or T20 leagues without the permission of the board. The chairman of the IPL Governing Council Brijesh Patel quoted to the Mid-Day saying ”The rule is clear that they [the players] cannot participate in any T20 or T10 tournaments if he is a [BCCI] registered player.”

Patel added, “They can only play in one-day, three-day or four-day cricket like county cricket or maybe in Bangladesh, but that permission has to be taken from the state association and the BCCI. We are looking into this matter. Let us see, I don’t know the exact situation. We are trying to get some more information. I want to get proper facts and then only we can decide” Patel added further.

Pravin Tambe is excited after bagging an IPL contract with KKR. He started his IPL career under Rahul Dravid with Rajasthan Royals in 2014 and then was a part of Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016 which was his last appearance in the league.

“I am still a 20-year-old in my mind. People say many things but I keep doing my job and put in a lot of hard work. I will like to do well in whatever role given to me, be it in fielding or bowling. It’s not to prove anything. If that was the case, I could not have played for this long. I’m really excited to play for them,” Pravin Tambe said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, Pravin Tambe thanked the KKR franchise for buying him at the auctions and giving him another shot at playing cricket. “KKR must have seen something in me to have bought me. I’m grateful to KKR team management. I want to give them back. If you get the support, you can go a long way,” he concluded saying. Tambe has picked up 28 wickets from 38 IPL matches so far.
