BCCI Awards 2020: Pacer Jasprit Bumrah wins Polly Umrigar Award

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah had an eventful night at the BCCI Annual Awards in Mumbai on 12th January 2020. Bumrah won the highest prize of the Indian Cricket – the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award for the best international cricketer (2018-19) alongwith Dilip Sardesai Award for the highest wickets in Test cricket for 2018-19 season. Bumrah recently became the leading wicket-taker in the T20Is for India after bagging his 53rd wicket during the final T20Is against Sri Lanka on 10 January 2020 at Pune. He is currently ranked as the World No.1 bowler in the ICC ODI Men’s rankings.
Leg spinner Poonam Yadav claimed the top prize in the women’s category and was awarded the best international cricketer (women). Poonam Yadav was earlier awarded the famous Arjuna Award for her achievements in the cricket world with the National Women’s team. 15-years old star women cricketer Shafali Verma was honoured with the best international debutant and best woman cricketer in the junior domestic cricket category.
