Qatar Cup Basketball: Al Wakra down Al Arabi win title

Doha: Al Wakrah beat Al Arabi 83-74 in the Qatar Cup 2020 title clash at Al Gharafa Sports Club’s Indoor Hall on Tuesday.
Al Wakrah’s Nicholas Stover scored 28 points while Julius V Coles Jr chipped in with 19. Sammy Monroe Jr II (24 points) and Khalid Suliman Abdi (19) did well for Al Arabi. The Qatar Basketball Federation officials were joined by representatives of both teams at the prize distribution ceremony. Jassim Gholoum was the crew chief while Saif Al Dosari and Bandr Jassim Al Suwaidi were the umpires.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, Al Wakra defeated Al Sadd 82 – 79 (19-19, 22-23, 24-20, 17-17) while in the second Al Arabi got the better of Al Gharafa 77 – 67 (13-21, 12-7, 23-19, 29-20).
The first round matches of the Qatar Cup began on October 10 at Al Gharafa Stadium. Nine teams took part in the event including Al Ahli, Al Arabi, Al Gharafa, Al Khor, Al Rayyan, Al Sadd, Al Shamal, Al Wakrah and Qatar Club
