Chahal Opens Up About a Frightening IPL Experience
Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has revisited a frightening incident from the 2013 Indian Premier League season.
At the time, he was representing Mumbai Indians and attended a gathering hosted by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru.
Chahal recalled that an Australian cricketer who was heavily intoxicated approached him during the event.
What initially appeared to be a joke soon turned into a deeply frightening experience for the young spinner.
He recently shared further details while speaking on a podcast hosted by former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra.
Australian Cricketer Held Chahal Over a Hotel Balcony
According to Chahal, the player lifted him and held him over a hotel balcony on a high floor.
The spinner said he was terrified as the situation became increasingly serious.
Other people present at the gathering quickly recognised the danger and intervened to bring him back to safety.
While the player reportedly laughed, Chahal described the experience as one that left a lasting impression on him.
He recalled feeling extremely frightened and grateful that others stepped in before the situation became worse.
Chahal Clarifies Speculation About the Player’s Identity
The incident has attracted renewed attention because of speculation about the identity of the Australian cricketer involved.
Chahal clarified that the individual was neither Andrew Symonds nor James Franklin, whose names had surfaced in earlier discussions.
However, he has not publicly identified the person he accused of holding him over the balcony.
The spinner also explained that he was young at the time and did not know how to pursue a formal complaint.
He eventually chose to move forward and concentrate on building his professional cricket career.
Chahal Continues His Cricket Journey
Chahal has established himself as one of the most successful leg-spinners in Indian Premier League history.
His performances across multiple franchises have made him a recognised name in Indian cricket.
Despite his absence from India’s international setup in recent years, he continues to feature in the IPL.
His latest recollections have brought renewed attention to player safety and responsible behaviour during team gatherings.
The episode remains a significant personal experience that Chahal has chosen to discuss publicly.
