Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has praised teammate Cole Palmer, describing the England international as a complete footballer with the ability to influence matches in several ways.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Everton, Pedro highlighted Palmer’s goalscoring talent, creative passing and quality from set pieces.
The Brazilian striker also discussed Chelsea’s attacking combinations, his understanding with Palmer and Morgan Rogers, and the impact of manager Xabi Alonso.
His comments underline the confidence within Chelsea’s forward line as the club looks to maintain its strong attacking performances.
Joao Pedro Highlights Cole Palmer’s Exceptional Talent
Pedro believes Palmer’s versatility makes him a particularly valuable player for Chelsea.
The attacking midfielder can find the net, create opportunities for teammates and pose a threat from free kicks.
Pedro also pointed to Palmer’s impressive goals against Fulham and Brighton as examples of his ability to produce decisive moments.
His vision and passing allow teammates to make dangerous runs, while his finishing ability means defenders cannot focus solely on stopping him from creating chances.
Palmer’s ability to combine goalscoring with chance creation makes him a key part of Chelsea’s plans.
Joao Pedro Explains Chelsea’s Attacking Combination
Pedro also explained how he adapts his movement to complement Palmer and Morgan Rogers.
He generally looks to play the ball to Palmer’s feet, allowing the midfielder to use his technical ability and passing vision.
Pedro’s movement through the centre gives Palmer and Rogers options, while their creativity can help the striker receive the ball in promising positions.
The trio’s ability to interchange positions and combine in attack offers Chelsea several ways to break down opponents.
Pedro believes their understanding on and off the pitch can further strengthen their partnership as the season progresses.
Xabi Alonso’s Winning Mentality Earns Pedro’s Praise
Pedro also spoke positively about head coach Xabi Alonso, highlighting his communication style and competitive mindset.
Having played football at the highest level, Alonso understands the demands placed on professional players.
Pedro believes the manager’s passion and emphasis on winning have helped establish a focused atmosphere within the squad.
The Brazilian forward also stressed that Chelsea’s attacking threat does not depend on one individual.
Contributions from midfielders and defenders, including from set pieces, give the team additional goalscoring options and make its attack less predictable.
Palmer’s creativity, Rogers’ dribbling ability and Pedro’s movement in the penalty area provide a promising attacking combination, but consistent performances across the squad remain essential.
