The Indian men’s cricket team has arrived in Japan ahead of their historic one-off T20I against Japan and the men’s cricket tournament at the 2026 Asian Games.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared visuals of the team’s arrival on Monday, showing players receiving a warm welcome from fans.
Star Players Join the Japan Tour
The arrival video featured several prominent Indian players, including Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi.
Fans gathered to welcome the Indian squad, with some supporters also getting the opportunity to click pictures with their favourite players.
Ishan Kishan delighted the local fans by saying “Konnichiwa and Arigato”, meaning “Hello and Thank you” in Japanese.
India to Begin Asian Games Campaign on September 28
India will enter the 2026 Asian Games men’s cricket tournament as the defending champions after winning the gold medal in the previous edition under captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
The Indian team will begin its campaign in the quarterfinal stage on September 28.
Historic India-Japan T20I on September 22
Before their Asian Games campaign, India will face Japan in a historic one-off T20I.
Named the Suzuki Cup, the match will celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Japan.
The special T20I is scheduled to take place on September 22 at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture.
The fixture marks a significant moment in the cricketing relationship between the two countries and will give fans in Japan an opportunity to watch some of India’s leading cricket stars in action.
