India’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka later this month, with the BCCI medical team reportedly advising him to extend his recovery from a left-knee issue.
According to reports, no replacement has been named yet.
Recovery Continues After England Tour
Bumrah has not bowled since the second ODI against England in Cardiff on July 16. He was ruled out of the final ODI at Lord’s after sustaining an impact injury while fielding during the Cardiff match.
Following the England series, the pacer reportedly received an injection in his knee as part of a long-term rehabilitation plan prepared by the BCCI medical team.
BCCI Medical Team Recommends More Rest
Bumrah recently visited the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for fitness assessments.
Medical experts are understood to have advised against an immediate return to bowling, believing that rushing his comeback could worsen the injury and result in a longer absence from competitive cricket.
The exact severity of the knee issue has not been officially disclosed.

India’s injury list has continued to grow ahead of the Sri Lanka series.
Current unavailable players include:

Bumrah’s Recent Playing Record
Earlier this year, Bumrah underwent fitness assessments at the BCCI Centre of Excellence before receiving clearance to play in the IPL.
He went on to feature in 13 matches for Mumbai Indians, although he missed the team’s final fixture.
