PSL: Rising star Sameer Minhas shines as Islamabad beat Karachi

Islamabad United beat Karachi Kings by eight wickets as rising star Sameer Minhas scored a splendid half-century here at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, on Thursday.

The victory marked the 11th consecutive win of Islamabad over Karachi in PSL.

The 19-year-old Minhas scored 58 from 36 balls as he and his opening partner Devon Conway (53 not out off 38 balls) steered Islamabad to an innings victory with just over four overs to spare chasing down the target of 150.

Reeza Hendricks contributed an admirable individual effort of 51 not out from 44 balls however, Karachi were restricted to a total of 150 for six by some very economical bowling from the Islamabad attack.

The victory took three-time champions Islamabad to the second spot in the table — nine points from seven games — four points behind league leaders Peshawar Zalmi (13 pts/7 gp)

At the moment Multan Sultans are sitting in third with eight points from six matches, and Hyderabad Kingsmen fourth on six points from seven.

The eight-team league will send the top four teams to the playoffs.
