Ronaldo set to takeover La Liga club Real Valladolid – Reports

Former Real Madrid and Barcelona legend Ronaldo is set to take control of La Liga side Real Valladolid. The former FIFA Player of The Year will become the majority shareholder of the club and talks are in advanced stage if reports from Marca are to be believed.

The takeover is estimated to cost the Brazilian in the region of €30 million  

The club, which gained promotion from the Segunda Division last season reportedly has debt somewhere in the region of €25 million. The takeover is believed to immediately bail the club out of all those debts.

Valladolid had been looking for a new owner to get back to get their finances stabilised and now it seems that Ronaldo has become the answer to their prayers.

The Spaniard had earlier reached an agreement with Mexican businessman, Ernesto Tinajero. However, despite signing a pre-contract following months of negotiations, Carlos Suarez, the current Chief Executive backed out of the deal, leaving the club in a flux in terms of their finances.

That, though, seems to have come to an end.

Ronaldo spent some of the best years of his career in La Liga and is one of the few stars to have succeeded at both Real Madrid and Barcelona. It is believed that his long affiliation with the league to be the main reason behind this decision of taking over Valladolid.

Valladolid board members also seem to be excited have Ronaldo on board and could be wrapped up within the coming few weeks according to the report. Ronaldo is expected to take up the role of club president while Carlos Suarez will remain in his role of chief executive.

Ronaldo has excelled time and again whenever he has taken to the field. Can he replicate that success as he moves to his new career off it? Only time will tell.
