Real Madrid News: Zinedine Zidane give the latest update on Gareth Bale

Real Madrid head into the Champions League final on the 26th of May with an eye to win the trophy – an unprecedented three times in a row and for the fourth time in five years. However, whilst the majority of the Blancos look to be gearing up for the challenge, the future of one of their star players viz. Gareth Bale remain up in the air.

The Welshman has had to endure a long spell on the bench this season owing to injuries and even after coming back to full fitness, the former Tottenham man has failed to break into the starting XI. The winger was completely unused in Real's first leg win over Bayern in the Champions League semi-final, opting to bring on Karim Benzema and match- winner Marco Asensio instead.

Bale, came on as a late substitute for the second leg at The Bernabeu.

While Bale's agent has time and again stated that the 28-year-old's future lies at the Spanish capital, media reports have time and again suggested that he may be shown the exit doors this summer. This season has been a nightmare for Gareth Bale as he has missed 68 days of the campaign through multiple injuries. His ineffectiveness and deteriorated relationship with Zinedine Zidane has fuelled rumours of a blockbuster move to Manchester United in the summer.

Zinedine Zidane's trust on the player, however, hadn't wavered from his below-par performances.

The Frenchman had then stated: “There are still matches left and I can count on Gareth. Those who say that I don’t count on him don’t tell the truth.” 

Bale is back?

And Gareth Bale has come back with a bang – scoring twice in their 6-0 win over Celta Vigo. He clearly looks to be in the best form of this season at the moment.

Many were surprised to see both Lucas Vázquez and Isco start ahead of the Welshman for the Champions League ties, but clearly, Zidane had a game plan in mind, and it worked. 

Bale, however, has replied to all this in the best way he can – with his performances on the field. And now Zinedine Zidane has a selection headache ahead of the UEFA Champions League final – one which he, however, welcomes.

“It's better to have everyone plugged in,” Zidane said at his post-match press conference. 

“Then of course it will be a headache to select the team for the final.

“We had a great game and that was important. We were very professional, scoring six goals and playing a lot of football. We did very well.”

Speaking on Bale, the Frenchman added, “He is very good, he has shown that. He was good at everything. I am happy for him. But the important thing is that we all arrive in optimal form.”
