Real Madrid looking to lure Chelsea’s Eden Hazard in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure – Reports

Real Madrid have identified one of the players they want to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu. According to reports in Tuttomercatoweb, Florentino Perez is keen on bringing Eden Hazard to Spain.

However, if they are unsuccessful in their pursuit of the Chelsea star, they could turn their attention to Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski or Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi.

Juventus secured the services of Ronaldo for €105m, and Madrid are set to use those funds to secure a move for Hazard had a sensational World Cup campaign with Belgium – leading them to a third place finish.

Hazard has been Chelsea's most impressive player since joining them in 2012. He made 34 appearances for them this past season, scoring 12 goals in the process. The Chelsea number 10 also played an instrumental role in their FA Cup triumph, scoring the only goal in the final against Manchester United.

He should fit in perfectly at Madrid alongside the likes of Isco, Luka Modric and Marco Asensio, forming the core of the Spanish side going forward.

Hazard has one year left on his current contract at Chelsea and is reportedly reluctant to sign an extension right now. He wants to know the direction the club are heading in with regards to signing new talent before making a decision on his future.

The Blancos already have a star-studded squad and that is exactly what Hazard is looking for. The European champions can lure him to Spain easily as he has repeatedly stated that it is his dream to play for the Spanish giants.

The Belgian's father revealed earlier this year that his son was indeed keen on joining Real Madrid and that the Spanish giants have also shown interest in taking him on board. However, despite rumours that indicate Hazard is the club's main target, he might indeed be plan C with Kylian Mbappe, who has starred at the World Cup this year, and Neymar Jr. reportedly being their main targets at the moment.
