Manchester United News: Angry fans point their fingers at one person after Champions League exit

Manchester United bowed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night after having suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sevilla at Old Trafford. A Wissam Ben Yedder brace sealed the tie for the Spanish side before a goal from Romelu Lukaku brought a glimmer of hope for the Red Devils in the dying minutes.

The task of scoring two in the last 10 odd minutes, however, proved to be a mountain too steep to climb for the hosts.

  1. The result and particularly the performance infuriated the United faithful as they took to social media to vent their anger. Most fans pointed out the ineptitude of their manager Jose Mourinho, calling the Portuguese out for his team selection and tactics.

The only person to blame is the Manager. It doesn’t matter that it’s Jose Mourinho. Wrong tactics, wrong players. #MUFC

— Nilay Dassani (@nilaydassani) March 13, 2018

Only Mourinho is to blame for this result. Tactics wrong from minute 1, firing balls up to Fellaini not the answer.

— Harry (@Bruxinho33) March 13, 2018

Never seen such a bad couple of performances than this. Always playing a dangerous game when you don't score an away goal. Mourinho has to take responsibility. Fucking tripe

— Leo Carter (@LeoCarter27) March 13, 2018

Still, at least they didn't pile even more eggs into the highest-paid basket in the game by extending Jose Mourinho's contract with the season's success still to be determined.

— Daniel Storey (@danielstorey85) March 13, 2018

Man United get exactly what they deserve. Mourinho has got this so so wrong.

— Transfer News (@TrustyTransfers) March 13, 2018

Well, turns out you can't shithouse your way to the Champions League like you can the Europa League. Mourinho has the answer to his question.

— Graham Ruthven (@grahamruthven) March 13, 2018

Honestly, Mourinho only has himself to blame for this

— United Rant (@unitedrant) March 13, 2018

You know what's the worst thing about this? People will still somehow find excuses for Mourinho. This Sevilla team is average this season, La Liga teams are toying with them. And in this tie, they looked like Pep's Barça.

— Josip (@jperkovic93) March 13, 2018

This is down to Jose Mourinho’s selection and decision from the outset.

— The Peoples Person (@PeoplesPerson_) March 13, 2018

Absolutely terrible performance due to horrific management by Jose Mourinho. Sevilla will go out next round whoever they play. Only slight consolation is we were never going to win it anyway. Embarrassing defensive approach by Mourinho.

— Sarah Adams (@Mufc_Sarah) March 13, 2018

This one is absolutely on Mourinho. He's over-complicated a second round tie to a mediocre Sevilla side who can't defend for toffee. You'd hope he'll learn a lesson from this, but you doubt it.

— Chris Cooper (@chrislovescass) March 13, 2018

This tie is 100% Jose Mourinho’s fault.

Tried to shithouse his way and got found out.
