Liverpool eyeing bargain move for Steven Gerrard’s cousin after he announces Manchester City exit

If reports from The Sun are to be believed, Liverpool are keen on signing young starlet Bobby Duncan who also happens to be the cousin of club legend Steven Gerrard after the teenager announced that he was leaving Manchester City.

The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the hottest young prospects in England. He came into spotlight when he became the first English player to net a hat-trick against Brazil at any level for the U-17s in 2016.

Having spent six years with City, the young prodigy was involved in a contract dispute with the club. This resulted in him not featuring in the academy set-up for months. He made only five appearances for the club's U18 side in season 2017/18.

In order to remain fit and ready ahead of his anticipated move to Anfield, he is currently training with League One side Wigan Athletic.

The youngster took to Social Media platform Instagram to announce his decision of parting ways with Manchester City. In the post, he wrote:

It’s Been an Amazing 6 Years at Manchester City ….. It Was a Difficult Decision For Me And My Family But The Time is Right For a New Challenge And to Fulfil My Dreams And Potential Elsewhere……

I Want to Thank Everyone at Manchester City. The Coaches, Staff, Players Who Have Contributed Into My Development Throughout My Time at The Club. I Move on With Many Special Memories…. Thank You!!!!

Related as a cousin of the legendary Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard, the English outfit are believed to have gained a valuable lead in the race for his signature.

They werelinked with Duncan back in April, when Gerrard was a U18 coach at Anfield. However, even after the former captain's move to Rangers as a coach, the interest in his cousin remain firm.

The Kop faced complications in signing the Huyton-born star earlier as they had been banned from signing youth players from English clubs until summer.

But, with the ban being lifted now, the Merseysiders are aiming to poach Duncan in a £200,000 million deal, considered as an extremely low figure for a player touted to reach the top.
