Kyle Walker aims dig at Tottenham after winning first trophy with Man City against Arsenal

CARABAO Cup winner Kyle Walker has taken an apparent dig at former club Tottenham after picking up the first trophy of his career with Manchester City.

Defender Walker put in a solid display as City triumphed 3-0 over Arsenal at Wembley to earn the 27-year-old a maiden piece of silverware.

It comes after a summer move from White Hart Lane to the Etihad and was City’s first trophy of the season, though they are runaway leaders in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s side are also still in contention for the Champions League, taking a 4-0 lead into the second leg of their last-16 tie with Basel.

Tottenham are still battling in Europe’s premier domestic cup competition as well, bringing a 2-2 draw back from Juventus.

But after walking the famous Wembley steps as a winner, Walker was quick to put the boot in to his former team mates with Tottenham’s last major trophy success coming with the League Cup in 2008.

Walker told the Carabao Cup twitter account: 'It's no good having a career and not winning anything so to get the first one for me personally, it's fantastic.

“It's a great feeling to know that I've got one ticked off and hopefully there's many more to come.

'They always say the first one is the most difficult one so we've got that one ticked off now.

'We've got two important cups that we're in and we need to push. We've got a big push until the end of the season.

'We've got to make sure that we're fighting… We're just happy. We're all professional footballers and we all want to win medals.”
