Jose Mourinho dares Manchester United star to hand in transfer request

Paul Pogba looks set for a certain Manchester United exit as his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho has hit a new low. According to reports in the Sun, Mourinho has dared Pogba to hand in a transfer request if he truly has his heart set on a move away.

It appeared as though the two had set aside their differences with the gaffer praising the Frenchman's stellar performance against Leicester City after handing him the captain’s armband. However, Mourinho did not take too kindly to Pogba’s statements after the match.

The World Cup winner, when asked about his future at the club and a possible move to Barcelona, stated, “There are things I can say and there are things that I cannot say, otherwise I will get fined.”

In response, Mourinho, who order showdown talks with the former Juventus midfielder, fired back stating that Pogba need only hand in a transfer request if he wishes to leave Old Trafford. “If you wish to leave Manchester, again, all you have to do is ask for a transfer,” Mourinho was quoted saying angrily by the Sun.

Pogba, however, responded by saying all formal talks from here on have to go through his agent Mino Raiola, whom many feel to be the cause of this fiasco when he pushed for a move for his client. Raiola had reportedly agreed a deal with Barcelona for them to sign Pogba only for Manchester United to claim the player would not be sold at any cost.

Now though it appears United have no option but to offload the mercurial Frenchman. Pogba clearly has no intentions of mending his relationship with Mourinho and it would be in the better interest of both parties if a move could be completed by the end of this summer’s transfer window.
