James Rodriguez: Liverpool sensationally contact Real Madrid about signing Bayern star

LIVERPOOL have sensationally contacted Real Madrid about signing Bayern Munich player James Rodriguez, a shock report has claimed.

Rodriguez is currently the toast of Bavaria with his impressive displays helping Bayern Munich soar towards another inevitable Bundesliga title.

The Colombia international moved to the Allianz Arena from Real Madrid in the summer after snubbing moves to the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

But Spanish website Don Balon say Liverpool are determined to succeed where their two Premier League rivals failed.

It is said the Merseyside giants have made contact with Real Madrid to express an interest in signing Rodriguez.

Bayern signed the 26-year-old on a two-year loan deal in the summer.

Yet Liverpool supposedly want to muscle in on their bid to sign the Colombian on a permanent basis.

Jurgen Klopp’s men still have money in the bank after Philippe Coutinho’s £142million move to Barcelona in January.

And Rodriguez is said to have been earmarked as a replacement for the Brazilian, even if the Reds’ attack remains just as potent without him.

Don Balon say, though, that Real Madrid have provided Liverpool with some negative news.

The La Liga champions are said to have informed the Reds that Rodriguez is not for sale.

And that is because they are unwilling to break their agreement with Bayern, who will have the option to sign him permanently at the end of his loan spell.

The only way Rodriguez will not be a Bayern player next season is if they, or Real, cancel the loan agreement.

And given how well he is doing in Germany, the chances of that happening are zero.

Meanwhile, speaking earlier this month, Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes described Rodriguez as a ‘God-send’.

“In his current form and how he has integrated himself, James is a God-send for Bayern Munich,” he said.

“At Real Madrid he wasn’t getting the game time that a player of his calibre deserves.

“You get the feeling that he is happy in Munich, because it’s not easy when someone comes into a new country, culture, language and way of life.

“He is playing well, but he can play better. I have told him personally how I think he can improve.”
