Frank Lampard fined by FA due to improper conduct

Derby County’s manager Frank Lampard has been charged by the Football Association for his improper conduct in the match against Rotheram last Saturday.

Lampard, who took over as Derby’s manager in May, was furious with match official Peter Bankes for not awarding his team with a spot-kick.

The former Chelsea midfielder was sent off to the stands and now faces the first fine in his managerial career.

Talking about the incident, Lampard reportedly said, “If it is (a red card) once I stepped out of the technical area, then their manager should have been sent off, and their assistant, my assistant, and all of us, because we all did during the game. I didn't get a word from the ref, he didn't consult with the linesman, he just decided to send me off.

“I need to go back to the rule book myself because I won't be leaving it again for any reason.”

The FA’s statement was as follows: “Derby County manager Frank Lampard has been charged following the game against Rotherham United on Saturday [15/09/18].

“It is alleged that his behaviour in the 77th minute amounted to improper conduct. He has until 6 pm on Thursday [20/09/18] to respond to the charge.”

Derby County currently sit at the 7^th position in the Championship points table, which is one place below the play-offs qualification. Lampard’s team has won four matches and lost thrice in seven games so far this season. They eventually lost the match against Rotheram by a margin of 1-0.

The Rams’ would face Manchester United in the 3^rd round of the EFL Cup this season. Accordingly, Lampard would be lined to come up against his former manager Jose Mourinho in this match.

The former England international would be keen to put this instance behind him, as Lampard prepares his side to play against Blackburn at the Pride Park Stadium tomorrow.
