Chelsea Star Eden Hazard Unhappy At Being Fouled Often In Premier League Games

Eden Hazard has been lighting up the Premier League since joining Chelsea in 2012 from Lille. He had made a mockery of opposition players with his tricks and flicks. His current form has been crucial for Chelsea as the Blues have maintained their unbeaten record in the Premier League. However, the playmaker has expressed his disappointment at being targeted by teams on the field. He seems unhappy with the number of time he has been fouled after taking up professional football. The Belgian playmaker had missed three successive matches after suffering a back injury in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United on October 20.

Hazard ranks among the most fouled players in the Premier League preceded by Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha. “I’m 27 now and I’m starting to get old, so I have to take more care of my body,” Hazard said. “I feel the wear and tear. I’ve been a pro for more than 10 years now. It [being fouled] is part of the game, I think. I’m not happy [about being fouled so often], but it’s part of football. The referee tries to do his job and I try to do my best. When I’m on the ground, I get free kicks and each time it’s a chance for Chelsea to score”, Hazard was quoted by ESPN.

With seven goals and four assists, Hazard had already been in the form of his life propelling Chelsea to third in the Premier League table under new boss Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea are yet to offer Hazard a new long-term deal. Hazard has been vocal of his affinity for Spanish club Real Madrid and last month he said joining Madrid remained his dream and wanted to make it happen. However, he did mention he was also open to talks with Chelsea over a new deal. If reports are to be believed, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich could make Hazard the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

After the international break. Chelsea will visit Wembley for a blockbuster clash against Tottenham Hotspur on November and hope to continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League.
