Qatar T10 League 2019 Final: Swift Gallopers And Falcon Hunters Face-Off in Finale After Rain Plays Spoilsport in Semis

The Qatar T10 League 2019 Final will now be played between Swift Gallopers and Falcon Hunters on Monday, 16 December after both the semifinals were washed out due to rain on Sunday, 15 December. This was the second time that rain interrupted and washed out two games in the tournament. On December 10, the matches between Pearl Gladiators vs Desert Riders and Flying Oryx vs Heat Stormers were washed out due to rain as well.

Meanwhile, as per the rules of the tournament, the top two teams will play the finals of the tournament in case rain played a spoilsport in the semis. Therefore with Swift Gallopers topping the table, and the Hunters finishing below them makes themselves qualified to play the Qatar T10 League 2019 Final. Both the teams won four matches each but the Gallopers top the table courtesy their better run-rate (+2.715). The Hunters also won a match hitting the last ball for a six. Discarded Pakistan batsman Salman Butt created this rare feat against Heat Stormers as he etched his name onto the league’s record books.

Apart from the Stormers, the Hunters defeated Desert Riders, Flying Oryx and the Pearl Gladiators with their match against the semi-final game against the Desert Riders being abandoned due to rain. They only lost one match against the Swift Gallopers which was a close encounter with the Hunters just falling six runs short of the target. 

The Swift Gallopers, on the other hand, lost their first game against the Desert Riders to start the tournament but bounced back well to win the next four. They beat Falcon Hunters, Heat Stormers, Pearl Gladiators and Flying Oryx in the process with their semi-final game against Flying Oryx also being abandoned due to rain. 

Third Place Playoff Match

Before the Qatar T10 League 2019 Final which is set to be played from 7 pm local time, the third-place match will be played between Flying Oryx and Desert Riders. After this, the final between the Gallopers and the Hunters will start from 7 pm local time.

Meanwhile, there will be cloud cover in the final two games in the tournament as well with the rain expected to clear before the final two games of the tournament. There is rain expected around 12 pm local time but the weather is expected to settle down before the start of the final two games. Now whether the ground staff will get enough time to prepare the ground for the play to start as per time remains to be seen.

The Qatar T10 League 2019 was another fine example of 10-over cricket and would have been even better if the rain had not interrupted the game during the knockouts. There were many close matches with plenty of good performances both with the bat and ball. This certainly leaves the fans wanting for more entertaining cricket in the second season of the Qatar T10 League.
