Indian star injured in the fifth Test against England

The Indian team has some injury scare in the ongoing fifth and final Test against England at the Kensington Oval in London as fast bowler Ishant Sharma walked off the field after injuring his left ankle on day four of the game. Ishant managed to bowl just one over on the day before he went back to the dressing room to get his ankle treated.

Ishant, who is in his third tour of England, was the spearhead of the Indian bowling attack this time and has shown that he is not the same old Ishant, who was wayward in his line and length. He has been India’s best bowler in the series as he is their leading wicket-taker with 18 wickets in nine innings at an average of 24.27 which includes a five-wicket haul in the second innings of the first Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

He has managed to take at least one wicket in every innings he bowled in the tour barring the second innings of the Oval Test in which he left the field after bowling just eight overs.

As per reports, Ishant is currently being treated by the physios and it is highly unlikely that the tall and lanky fast bowler will take the field again. However, he might walk out to bat in the final innings of the series if the team wants him to bat.

The extent of the injury is not yet known and his fitness will be closely monitored by the team management as he is one of the crucial players in the Indian Test side ahead of their tour of Australia.

India are on the back foot in the fifth Test as England are placed at 364/5 with a lead of 404 runs. Alastair Cook, who is playing his final Test match, and England skipper Joe Root registered respective centuries as they scored 147 and 125 respectively.
