5 International Coaches Who Could Become Next Head Coach of the England Cricket Team

We look at the probable head coaches who can replace Trevor Bayliss once his contract runs out and push the World Cup winning England cricket team even further.

 Mickey Arthur

The former coach of the Pakistan international cricket team from 2016-2019, Mickey Arthur played for the South African domestic cricket team for 16 years. His successful coaching career extends to coaching the South African National team and the Australian national team as well.  His coaching career started with a bit of disappointment as the first two test series, where he was coaching South Africa, was against the mighty Australia in which South Africa was beaten easily. But his persistent helped to keep the spirit of the team high, which resulted in many successes later on.

 Ottis Gibson

Ottis Gibson was the former head coach of the West Indies national cricket team or 5 years and also played in the national team of West Indies previously. He was the former bowling coach of England, for twice and most recently he coached the South African team from 2017. He represented the national team in 15 ODIs and had the reputation as a hard-hitting late middle order batsman apart from his capability of genuine pace bowling. Following a disastrous performance of South Africa in the 2019 World Cup, Gibson along with the entire South African coaching team was axed by Cricket South Africa.

 Gary Kirsten

Gary Kirsten earned his reputation as the opening batsman of South Africa and later went on to coach the nation team of South Africa for two years and the Indian cricket team for four years. In 2007 he even organized his own cricket academy. As someone appearing in 110 test matches and 185 ODIs there is no doubt that Gary has the perfect experience to be a fit candidate for this job. He helped the Indian cricket earn their 2011 World Cup victory. In 2018 he was appointed as the batting coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore of the IPL and later became the head coach.

 David Saker

David is the former fast bowling coach of the Australian national team and previously he played first-class cricket for the Victorian Bushrangers team and the Tasmanian Tigers. He is a right arm fast-medium bowler but also had the reputation of being a decent batsman. He started his international coaching career as the bowling coach of the England cricket team in 2010. He played a pivotal role in England’s 2010-2011 Ashes series victory. Currently he is the fast bowling coach of the United States national cricket team but on a short-term basis.

 Dean Jones

Dean Jones is a former Australian cricketer, commentator and coach. During the 1980’s and early 1990 he was regarded one of the best batsman in the world. He earned his place in the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 2019. In 2017 he was appointed as the interim head coach of Afghanistan national team. In 2018 Jones was the head coach of the winning Islamabad United in the third edition of PSL.

It remains to be seen which coach eventually takes charge of England.
