3 players fined for poor conduct during Asia Cup 2018 match

Three players, namely Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali, and Afghanistan stars Rashid Khan and Asghar Afghan were sanctioned for poor conduct during the first round of matches of the Super 4s stage of the ongoing Asia Cup.

The Pakistan cricket team came out on top in an enthralling encounter against the newcomers Afghanistan, winning the nail-biting encounter in the final over of the match.

With 10 runs required in the final over of the match while chasing 258, Hasan Ali was able to get off strike to give the experienced Shoaib Malik strike for the rest of the over. With 9 runs required off 5 balls, Malik finished off the match with a six and a four.

However, there were a lot of controversies during the match. The players did not hold back as they had a go at each other on a number of occasions. Hasan Ali, Rashid Khan, and Asghar Afghan clearly went over the line, which led to the fines handed out to them.

Hasan Ali and Asghar were found guilty of breaching Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to 'conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game'

On the other hand, Rashid was found guilty of breaching Article 2.1.7, which deals with 'using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.'

Hasan Ali was fined for threatening to throw the ball at the batsman in the 33rd over. On the other hand, Rashid Khan was fined for giving a raised-finger send-off to Asif Ali in the 47th over. Finally, Asghar was fined for brushing shoulders with Hasan Ali while running in the 37th over.

The three players accepted their mistakes and the fines handed out to them to the match referee after the match.
