Rey Mysterio’s first match after return confirmed

With the historic 1000th episode of WWE SmackDown set to be aired next week, there are a lot of legendary Superstars who will be at Washington DC to appear on the show. One such name is former WWE champion Rey Mysterio, who will be returning to the company as a full-time wrestler.

Mysterio has been confirmed to make his return on the show and has been booked against the United States champion Shinsuke Nakamura for a place in the WWE World Cup that will be taking place in the WWE Crown Jewel PPV at the King Saud University stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 2.

The winner of the match will join the likes of John Cena, WWE Raw General Manager Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton and three others in the WWE World Cup.

WWE also confirmed that Rey Mysterio will be touring with the SmackDown roster for Live events across the globe. WWE also released a schedule of the Superstar.

Hartford, Conn. – Oct. 20

Boston, Mass. – Oct. 21

White Plains, N.Y. – Oct. 22

Cardiff, Wales – Nov. 3

Aberdeen, Scotland – Nov. 4

Birmingham, England – Nov. 5

With this, it is very clear that Mysterio will be a part of the blue brand but his first feud after returning is yet to be known. There were reports that Mysterio will go after Nakamura's United States title after his return to the company. With his first match scheduled against the Artist, it could sow the seeds for a rivalry between the two for the US title with Mysterio eventually claiming the title.

Mysterio, who left WWE in 2015, returned to the company in the 2018 Royal Rumble and the 2018 Greatest Royal Rumble that took place in Saudi Arabia. With his arrival, a lot of dream matches like AJ Styles-Rey Mysterio, Andrade Cien Almas-Rey Mysterio etc. could become a reality.
