The Argentine coach used 23 players in the match and highlighted two individuals in particular – Enzo Fernandez and Ian Maatsen.
Enzo Fernandez started the game against Fulham, while Ian Maatsen was on the bench, but he still had a chance to impress during the Summer Series.
Speaking about Enzo, Pochettino said, “Always it is a pleasure with Enzo. He is very humble, a fighter, and a fantastic player. Being a world champion with Argentina, I am incredibly proud of him. I shared in the happiness when they won the World Cup. Having a player like him in the squad is a pleasure.”
Regarding Ian Maatsen’s progress, Pochettino expressed his satisfaction with the young player’s performance in important moments during the pre-season. He also praised Maatsen’s versatility, saying, “He has the capacity to compete in different positions on the pitch. We are delighted because his performance has been consistent, and we see enormous potential for him in the team.”
