Johnny Gargano vs Tommaso Ciampa – NXT Takeover New Orleans (Unsanctioned Match)
The rivalry between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa is easily the best rivalry of the year and also the best in the history of NXT. It had everything, promos, storytelling and as many as three classics among which the one they had at NXT Takeover New Orleans is the best.
It was an Unsanctioned Match and if Johnny wins it, he will get his place in the NXT roster back. Both men took part in the match as if they wanted to end each other’s career that night. The match was a complete package as it included pure wrestling, epic storytelling and had an excellent finish.
The match had Suplex, powerbombs, slingshot DDTs, Garga-No-Escapes, Project Ciampa, Super Project Ciampa and still, both men failed to give up as it had a lot of near-falls throughout. The match came to an end when Johnny countered Ciampa, who tried to hit him with his knee brace, and put him through a Garga-No-Escape before he transitioned it into an STF using the knee brace, forcing Ciampa to tap out for the win.
