T10 League: Nicholas Pooran shines on batsmen’s day

We witnessed three exciting encounters in the T10 League yesterday as the bat extended its domination over the ball. There were quite a few spectacular performances and here is a review of all the action.

Pooran charges Northern Warriors to a win over Kerala Knights

The Universe Boss, Chris Gayle, fell for 14 from 18 balls but it was his partner Paul Stirling who lighted up the proceedings. The Irish batsman struck a fine 60 from 28 balls to help the Kerala Knights reach the total of 101/2 in 10 overs.

In the Windies dominated batting lineup, Pooran shone the brightest with his spectacular 43 not out from 18 balls. Andre Russell, batting at four, smacked four sixes in his brief stay of 10 balls and fetched the win for the side.

Bengal Tigers chase down 135 runs against Sindhis

Anton Devich’s blazing 64 from 23 balls, and Samiullah Shenwari’s 44 from 26 helped the Sindhi post 134 runs in their 10 overs. Mohammad Nabi was the strike bowler for the Tigers as he snared three wickets.

In reply, Sunil Narine began with an assault as he raced to 22 from just six balls. Jason Roy then took hold of the proceedings and slammed a brilliant 64 from just 35 balls. Mohammad Nabi starred with the bat as well. He struck two boundaries on the last two balls when the team required five runs to win.

Punjabi Legends’ Hassan Khan brings Pakhtoons down to the earth

Punjabi Legends displayed their bowling muscles as they halted the high-flying Pakhtoons to only 102/6 in the first innings. Pravin Kumar picked 2/21 while Hassan Khan was the star with his four-wicket haul. Only Andre Fletcher and Colin Ingram chipped in with meaningful contributions for Pakhoons.

Umar Akmal played a key part in the chase for Punjabi Legends and scored 41 from 21 balls. Liam Dawson double-wicket over did raise a few concerns, but those were quickly mitigated by Evin Lewis’ brisk 20 from eight balls. Punjabi Legends won with seven balls remaining.

Only three matches are remaining in the group stage of the T10 League. Northern Warriors enjoy the top position and are closely followed by Pakhtoons. Bengal Tigers and Punjabi Legends complete the top-four.
