What Does The Emphatic Win Over Bournemouth Mean For Liverpool, Ahead Of Two Key Games

Liverpool were up against Bournemouth in the top flight of English football, prior to their two key clashes against Napoli and Manchester United. The Reds were hoping to claim a win in this one and push towards the top of the points table, and their players did not disappoint. The trio was back in form at the right time and helped Jurgen Klopp’s side secure an easy win over the Cherries.

Mo Salah scored a hat-trick, and Sadio Mane added a fourth, in a comfortable win for the Merseyside club. Roberto Firmino was involved in the build-up play and left his mark on the game as well, with quite an impact.

Things look to be going great now for the trio, and the team as a whole and the German manager will be hoping that they can win their upcoming games, which will be really crucial for their cause.

Talking points of an emphatic win

Trio back to form?

After a hat-trick by Salah, a goal by Mane and assists by Firmino, does it mean that the trio is back in form at the right time? The Premier League leaders are all set to face off against Napoli in the Champions League, in a must-win game for them to remain in the competition. On the other hand, they will face Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United side at Anfield at the weekend. For this purpose, it was crucial to get the attackers in form, which has finally happened now and will be a huge boost for the German manager.

Wilson was missed

There is no doubt that the England international was missed in the game and the hosts could not score, due to the lack of quality upfront. It is clear that Joshua King is not in the best of form right now and will want to work on it, though Wilson was missed. The England international has been in the form of his life this season and can’t stop scoring. He had also scored a goal and claimed an assist in their previous match and could have surely done more if he was playing this one.

Another clean sheet for Alisson and the Liverpool defense

Good work by Alisson and co. to once again maintain a clean sheet against a team that was playing rather well in the league and would have been expected to at least push forward and score a goal. They were strong defensively and did not give their rivals a chance to create too many goalscoring opportunities in the match. This will be a huge boost for the club from England, who now need to win against Carlo Ancelotti’s side in mid-week.

Mane regains fitness?

There were doubts about the fitness of Sadio Mane leading up to the game, as he started on the bench. Well, his goal would be proof of his fitness that he is up and ready to go. The attacker has not been in the best of form this season, like the other two members in the trio, but that can change soon. One good game and they can be back amongst the goals, as shown by the game against Bournemouth. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come in the upcoming days.

Milner needs to start against Napoli

James Milner has been in and out of the team in recent times. However, it is quite clear that his place is on the pitch and not on the bench. The former England international has only improved with time and is one of the key players in this Liverpool squad. Klopp needs to start him against Napoli, as he can make a difference to the team and their ambitions of beating the Serie A giants and going through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Things look good for Liverpool as of now, as they head into a crucial encounter with Carlo Ancelotti’s side. It is a must-win game for them, or else they will end up in the Europa League. The trio looks in good form now and hopefully; they can deliver in the upcoming key fixture.
