This victory marks City’s first-ever triumph in this competition, secured after securing a place in this prestigious event through our June triumph in the Champions League.
For Kyle Walker, it also signifies his inaugural trophy while wearing the captain’s armband, taking over from Ilkay Gundogan, the skipper of our Treble-winning squad who departed in the summer.
Maintaining our composure, we confidently converted all five penalty kicks before Sevilla’s Nemanja Gudelj’s effort hit the crossbar, leading us to secure the coveted trophy.
The evening in Athens had already unfolded dramatically, with the Europa League champions taking the lead in the opening half, courtesy of a towering header from Youssef En-Nesyri.
