PSG show interest in David De Gea
- Updated: October 16, 2018
Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring David De Gea’s contract situation at Manchester United according to Daily Mail. The Ligue 1 champions are keen on signing the Spaniard as an upgrade to Alphonse Areola.
PSG are keen on building a side that is capable of winning the Champions League in the next 2-3 years. They have made their attack formidable with the likes of Edinson Cavani, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe but their defence is still a question.
Gigi Buffon was signed for a free in the summer and he has gone into goal straight ahead of Areola. The French side want De Gea as the long-term solution to their goalkeeping issues and are keen on signing him,
Manchester United’s #1 has his contract expiring at the end of the season but the club have an option of extending it by one year. He is one of 11 players who have their contracts running out in the summer at Old Trafford.
Reports suggest that De Gea is in no hurry to sign a new deal that has been offered by United. He is happy with the offer as it will make him the club’s highest earner, however, the club’s project is the main thing blocking him from putting pen to paper.
Jose Mourinho has been at the helm for 3 seasons now and the Red Devils have not progressed well. They won the Europa League and the League Cup in his first season but went trophyless in the 2nd season.
Now, the Red Devils are struggling and there has been no significant progress. The manager has gone into war with Paul Pogba as well and his dislike for Anthony Martial is well known to all.
De Gea is reportedly willing to wait for the club to make a decision on the manager’s future before signing the new contract. Massimiliano Allegri and Zinedine Zidane have been linked with the job but both of them are yet to show any interest in it.
