Winter Youth Olympic Games 2020 is a major global multi-sport event for teenagers to be held in Lausanne, Switzerland, the home of the International Olympic Committee between 09th January 2020 and 22 January 2020. Lausanne 2020 is the 3rd edition of Winter Youth Olympics. The opening ceremony of Winter Youth Olympic 2020 is scheduled to take place on 9th January 2020 at the Vaudoise Aréna, in Lausanne.
The Youth Winter Games feature athletes ages 14-18 in traditional Olympic sports and other events not on the traditional Winter Games program, such as monobobsled, women’s Nordic combined and ski mountaineering.
The United States of America (US) tied for the most gold medals (10) in the Youth Winter Games 2016 in Lillehammer, Norway. The first Youth Winter Olympics hosted by Austria in 2012.
How many Sports Games to be played in Winter Youth Olympics 2020?
The Youth Olympic Games will feature 8 sports and 16 disciplines. 81 events, there will be 13 mixed team events (NOCs), 34 men’s events, and 34 women’s events. Ski mountaineering and women’s Nordic combined will feature for the first time in an Olympic event. A mixed-NOC 3-on-3 ice hockey tournament and a women’s doubles event in luge will also be contested for the first time.

There are 79 countries taking part in the Youth Winter Olympics 2020. Total 1,872 athletes from 79 nations was qualified for this year’s Winter Youth Olympics, the most for any edition. There are 12 NOC’s are particing for the first time in Winter Youth Olympics, these includes: Albania, Azerbaijan, Ecuador, Haiti, Hong Kong, Kosovo, Pakistan, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turkmenistan. Haiti, Qatar and Turkmenistan have also never competed at the Winter Olympics.
