Gujarat Titans outplay Rajasthan Royals. Gujarat Titans overcame Rajasthan Royals by 58 runs in the Indian Premier League after an overwhelming overall performance on Wednesday.

The Titans had a strong start after batters Jos Buttler (36) and M Shahrukh Khan (36) played significantly in the middle-order. Sai Sudharsan, an opener, went above and beyond by scoring 82 runs off 56 balls, leading the team to 217-6 after being asked to bat first.

Shimron Hetmyer scored 52 runs for the Royals while his skipper Sanju Samson added 41 runs, but a handful of other batters failed to extend their innings. This, coupled with the Titans’ Prasidh Krishna taking three wickets, led to the Royals being bowled out at 159 runs in 19.2 overs. This victory places the Titans at the top of the table with 8 points from five matches.

Titans captain Shubman Gill praised his team’s performance, highlighting that a collective effort on the fast bowlers’ part allowed them to cross the Titan’s desired total of 220.

Royals captain Samson regretted losing focus in the bowling department which cost the team 20 extra runs, claiming it was a factor in needing to head towards losing wickets too quickly.

The Royals remain in the seventh position with four points from five matches.

“Samson said, ‘We gave away an additional 15-20 runs during our overs. We lost wickets at the times which required us to build momentum,’” said Royals captain, Samson.

“When you lose games, you do think, should we have chased? Should we have approached this differently? But we do want to win games while chasing, not just perform all our victories batting first,” said another player.”

The match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Delhi Capitals will be played on the 20th of April, Thursday. The game will commence at 6 PM UAE Time.
