Zara Shaw, a midfielder for Liverpool FC Women, is facing a period on the sidelines due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Shaw encountered the injury during the opening half of Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Birmingham City Women last Sunday.
After being taken off the field at halftime due to an off-the-ball incident, the diagnosis revealed an ACL injury.
Shaw will now embark on a rehabilitation program within the club, receiving unwavering support from both the staff and her fellow teammates, as expressed by LFC Women manager Matt Beard.
“We are all deeply saddened by Zara’s situation, and the entire club will be there to assist her through the recovery process,” Beard stated.
“Fortunately, we have a closely-knit group of players and an exceptional medical team who will be with her every step of the way. The immediate response from players like Ceri Holland, Miri Taylor, and Sofie Lundgaard when the injury occurred on Sunday is a testament to our supportive environment.”
“Zara has made a strong impression during pre-season, showcasing not only her on-field maturity but also her positive presence off the field. While her absence affects our preparations for the WSL season, our primary focus now is rallying around her and providing unwavering support for the journey ahead.”
