ACC Shuts Down Zaka Ashraf

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Thursday issued a noteworthy response to Zaka Ashraf after the former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman and soon-to-be chief of the same position said that he had rejected the hybrid model for Asia Cup (now approved) in the past, adding that he doesn’t agree with it since Pakistan was given the hosting rights and it is only fair that the is event is held in their country. The ACC had announced that the Asia Cup, set to be held in August-September will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with India playing allits matches in the island nation. Ashrafs statement came after the announcement was made by ACC that had once again put the only continental championship of Asia in doubt.

Reacting to the statement, an ACC board member told news agency PTI that the hybrid model had been accepted and no changes would be made adding that Ashraf is free to say whatever he wants regarding the decision. “The Asia Cup model has been accepted by ACC and there would be no change. Ashraf is free to say whatever he wants,” the ACC board member told PTI.

However, the former PCB chief issued a clarification regarding his earlier statements and said that he has no other choice but to honour the commitment and doesn’t have any intention to not comply with the decision.
