Tomas Tuchel reveals Bayern Munich interest

Tomas Tuchel revealed that Bayern Munich approached him on the brink of his arrival at Paris, but said that he had already made up his mind to go to France. The former Borussia Dortmund manager signed a two-year deal with the French giants earlier this summer after taking a year off from management.

Tuchel is one of the strictest and shrewdest managers in world football. He has previously coached Bundesliga clubs Augsburg and Mainz, before switching to Borussia Dortmund, where he enjoyed a stunning win percentage of almost 63.

The 45-year-old is right now taking the Ligue 1 champions to new heights, as he has won each of his first six competitive matches as PSG boss. Les Parisiens have already set the pace in the league season with 15 points from five games, five more than second-placed LOSC Lille.

He mentioned that the offer from Bayern arrived too late. Speaking to L'Equipe, he said, 'With Bayern, there were only contacts. Their proposal arrived too late, I had already decided to join the PSG.”

'My choice after Dortmund was very clear, it was something I had deep down inside me – if I'm lucky enough to have an experience abroad, I have to try,” he continued.

'It was clear with my family, my staff and for me. Paris was special, it was a nice surprise,' he added, whilst hailing France’s top-flight challenge.

Speaking about the Bundesliga champions, he said, “At Bayern, it is different,” says the former Mainz boss. 'The club never speaks of the Champions League, even if they want to win it. They always say: the championship comes first, the championship comes first.”

Tuchel’s credentials will be heavily tested when his PSG side lock horns with the high-flying Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League. They will then travel to Roazhon Park on 23rd September to take on Rennes.
