Sepp Blatter makes huge claim about Qatar World Cup

Sepp Blatter has revealed that Qatar used unceremonious means to secure their rights to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022. The disgraced FIFA president claims that Nicolas Sarkozy, former French President, had political influence on then FIFA Vice President Michel Platini to get it done.

Blatter tweeted: “Bad news: Qatar accused of denigration of other bidders! Fact is Qatar won after a political intervention by the former French President Sarkozy to FIFA Vice-President Platini. More information in my book ‚Ma verité‘ chapter 10. #Qatar #FIFAWorldCup2022 #FIFA #AFC”

It clearly looks like a ploy pulled up by Blatter to get his book sales up but then again, he knows the truth like no one else does. He was, after all, the president of FIFA for 17 years!

Sepp Blatter was fired as FIFA President after Money Laundering and Bribery charges were pushed against him in December 2015. He and Platini was banned from all FIFA related activities for 6 years.

Blatter’s 17-year reign as the FIFA President was controversy-free reign until they awarded the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups to Russia and Qatar respectively. The British press were furious that England were overlooked for both the World Cups and started investigating into the matter.

Things went downhill for Blatter since then and he has been in one controversy after the other. He ‘joked’ about homosexuality being illegal in Qatar and that did not do down well with the majority of the public. Soon after, US footballer, Hope Solo accused him of sexual misconduct.

Since Blatter’s release from the esteemed position, Gianni Infantino has been the FIFA president. He has announced that the Qatar World Cup will have two huge changes.

First of all, the World Cup will be played in November and December instead of June and July. Secondly, it will be the first ever World Cup to have 48 teams taking part in it!
