SCANDAL: Video Shows Diego Maradona Hitting Girlfriend!

Video footage has emerged of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona appearing to hit his on-off girlfriend Rocia Oliva for using her phone.

It is alleged that Oliva, who at 24 is 29 years younger than Maradona, 53, secretly filmed his actions at his Buenos Aires apartment earlier this month.

Maradona is famous for captaining Argentina to a 1986 World Cup win and for his infamous 'Hand of God' goal against England at that tournament.

However, it's use of his hands in other ways here that has caused outrage among fans, with Rocia Oliva's aunt branding him a 'psychopath' according to the Daily Mail.

The video has sparked a wide debate on social media sites, with many taking to Twitter to voice their opinions regarding arguably one of the greatest players of all time.

Maradona, who is no stranger to controversy, has spoke out to say that he had only knocked the phone out of his girlfriend's hands, denying that he struck her.

'I sent the phone flying but I swear I've never hit a woman. The story starts and finishes there.'

#Maradona was immensely successful as a player but has been a complete failure in everything else in life. Absolutely everything.

'I admit I knocked the phone out of Rocio's hands but there's nothing more to it. The situation didn't continue.'

The Argentine legend will be fondly remembered for moments like his 'other' goal against England in 1986, a mesmerising run that saw him take on the entire Three Lions team in what was voted Goal of the Century.
