Romelu Lukaku ridiculed on Twitter after another night to forget for Manchester United forward

Romelu Lukaku has come in for a huge amount of criticism ever since his big money from Everton to Manchester United earlier this season. And not it seems like people just can’t wait to get on the case of the Belgian who had another night to forget playing in the Champions League.

After another night where he failed to really make a mark against a big name side, the Twitterati was out in arms to reassert their claim that the 24-year-old can only be effective against the bottom sides.

Lukaku had a wonderful opportunity to give Manchester United the lead in the first half when a beautifully curled ball from Alexis Sanchez found him in space in the penalty box. The forward, however, failed to apply to required finish – skying the ball from inside the penalty box from his time first-time attempt.

After finishing the game 0-0 (largely due to heroics from David de Gea – AGAIN!), the Red Devils will look to bounce back in the league as they look forward to another tough test against Jose Mourinho’s former side Chelsea.

Manchester United fans, however, were not happy with the team's performance in the game in which they were largely second best. And they vented their anger on both the side as well as Lukaku on Twitter.

CHANCE for Manchester United, but it falls to their centre-forward Romelu Lukaku, so it doesn't go anywhere near the goal.

Big chance for Lukaku and he spoons it over the bar #SEVMUN pic.twitter.com/OtPQGRsxtB

Lukaku has just scored….. 3 points in rugby!

Unfortunately, he’s playing football. #chance

Used to think people were exaggerating when they said Lukaku is just a young Heskey, turns out they were right, terrible touch, clumsy and no football brain whatsoever

Pathetic first half from United, get your foot on the ball & start playing, hoofing it up aimlessly to Lukaku! Joke stuff! #mufc

We’d be absolutely fucked without De Gea. Smalling is a joke. Mata is chasing shadows and Lukaku has been awful again.

We play like a team full of strangers no chemistry what’s so ever game plan is hit the ball towards Lukaku and see what comes of it! This is an ongoing thing at United we look lost…

Man.Utd tactics:
1. trust David de Gea
2. trust David de Gea
3. trust David de Gea
4. foul the opposition's players
5. long ball to Lukaku
6. winning free kicks (Alexis)
7. park the bus

Nobody can justify to me how a side 6th in La Liga in Sevilla outshot us 25-6 when we have the likes of Lukaku, Pogba & Sanchez in our side. Scary how some of our fans are brainwashed by the narratives Jose has implanted in your heads.
