Report: Leeds eye summer swoop for league leaders’ attacker in repeat of 2017 deal

Leeds United are eyeing up a transfer swoop for SD Huesca attacker Alex Gallar in the summer window, according to a report.
Spanish publication Diario De Leon claim on their website that the Whites are keen on securing the services of the 25-year-old winger after his impressive performances this season, with five goals and five assists in 23 appearances for the side topping the table of Spain’s second division.
He arrived at Heusca last summer from Cultural Leonesa to replace future Leeds star Samu Saiz, meaning that the Elland Road outfit could well repeat the transfer with a different player a year later if the report is correct.
Football Insider verdict
Can the success of Saiz be replicated in what would be as near to a carbon copy transfer as you could get? Perhaps, but Huesca will soon become fed up of the Whites poaching their best attacking stars year on year. Plus, sitting at the top of the Spanish second tier by some margin, it looks as though the club are destined for La Liga, which will be a huge draw to players in the same way that promotion from the Championship to the Premier League would be. Gallar has impressive stats to back him up but there is no knowing whether he can make the same impact that Saiz had on his arrival at Elland Road, and the club really need some proven talents following the mixed results of last summer’s foreign overhaul.
