Real Madrid Transfer Rumour: Mateo Kovacic rejects Manchester United move

Mateo Kovacic has reportedly rejected the chance to join Manchester United according to Marca. The Spanish outlet reports that Real Madrid accepted a €60 million bid for the Croatian midfielder from the Red Devils.

According to the report, the 24-year-old doesn't see himself fitting in at Old Trafford because of United's style of play. This comes as a massive blow to Jose Mourinho who has been desperate for new signings.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich also inquired about Kovacic as per the report, but neither submitted a bid for him. Manchester United were in the pole position after having a bid accepted, but the player rejected the move.

Kovacic has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this summer, after failing to make it to the starting XI Real Madrid. He has been making no secret of his desire to seek first-team football elsewhere and openly admitted that he was looking at offers.

The midfielder is yet to report back for pre-season training with Los Blancos after getting an extended vacation due to his involvement at the World Cup. Julen Lopetegui still hopes that Kovacic will change his mind and stay with Los Blancos this season. Marca claim that the manager will try to convince him by offering an important role in the squad this season.

Reports suggest that Chelsea are still likely to make a move for the Croatian before the transfer deadline for the English clubs next week. Kovacic has a big decision to make as it will be Chelsea or Bayern Munich or Real Madrid for him. No other club has registered an interest in him.

Bayern Munich are looking for a replacement for Arturo Vidal. The Chilean is reportedly on his way to Inter Milan this summer and the German champions are keen on the Croatian.
