Real Madrid News: Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be missed, states Dani Ceballos

Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus has left a gaping hole in the Real Madrid squad ahead of the new season. Los Blancos haven’t signed a replacement yet, but their players seem pretty confident that their squad is still good enough to cope with Ronaldo’s absence.

The latest player to come out and back the squad to do well in Ronaldo’s absence is young Dani Ceballos. The Spaniard claimed that the team are adapting to a new style, 'We are playing in a different way, using the ball differently, taking up different positions on the pitch.

'This Madrid scores goals. [Gareth] Bale is plugged in, Karim [Benzema], Marco [Asensio] … you will not notice Cristiano's absence.'

Manager Julen Lopetegui still has a few weeks to sign a potential replacement, but there have been reports that he wants to build the team around Isco.

While Lopetegui was with the Spanish national team, Isco saw a lot of the ball in the attacking half and he could finally realise his potential, like the other young players at Real Madrid. Replacing Ronaldo’s goals will take some doing, however. The Portuguese scored 26 goals in 27 La Liga games last season despite a slow start.

Going back to Ceballos, the midfielder started just four games for Real Madrid last season and is hoping to make more of an impact next season. The 22-year old also spoke about his personal form ahead of the season, 'I am feeling confident, and also I have the confidence of the coach.”

'I am trying things that I didn't try before. Having this confidence is almost 80 percent of a player, for them to play at their best.'

Real Madrid will begin their league campaign against Getafe on the 20th of August. Before that, they take on local rivals Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Supercup.
