Pat Nevin heaps praise on Mohamed Salah for his brilliant goal in Liverpool FC's resounding win at FC Porto
Pat Nevin claimed that Mohamed Salah is one of the only players in the world capable of scoring his goal in Portugal after Liverpool FC were 5-0 winners at FC Porto in the Champions League.
The Egypt international has been in prolific form in all competitions so far this season following his £39m move to Liverpool FC from Serie A giants AS Roma in the summer transfer window.
Salah scored in Liverpool FC’s 2-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League last weekend and the Reds forward was causing more destruction in Portugal in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash.
The African forward reacted quickest when James Milner’s shot hit the woodwork when the 25-year-old juggled the ball in the air before he placed a finish past Porto goalkeeper Jose Sa.
Salah became the 13th Liverpool FC player to score 30 goals in a season after his seventh Champions League strike of the 2017-18 campaign.
Former Chelsea winger Nevin heaped praise on Salah for his clinical goal to put Liverpool FC in charge of the last-16 tie.
“How many players in the planet would do what Mohamed Salah did there?” Nevin told BBC Sport.
“He took about five touches to control the ball and left the goalkeeper floundering.”
Mane completed his hat-trick in the second half, while Firmino scored his 20th goal of the season in all competition to wrap up a 5-0 win.
Salah has netted 22 goals in the Premier League this season but still trails Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in the goal-scoring charts.
