No Messi and No Ronaldo in Neymar’s list of World Cup stars

Former Barcelona star Neymar snubbed Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo when he was asked about the players who could star in the World Cup later this year. Neymar, who is currently recovering from a foot injury, told the names of six players who could make a difference at the World Cup.

Speaking to Live Soccer, he mentioned the names of Mohamed Salah, who was recently adjudged as the PFA Premier League Player of the Year for his phenomenal performances for Liverpool, compatriots Philippe Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus, Belgian duo Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne along with Luis Suarez.

“I believe that [Philippe] Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus can make a difference – I hope they do.

“Salah is a player that doesn’t belong to a title contender, but I believe he’ll do a good job

“There are others like Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne, and Luis Suarez who could get their teams to the next level,” he said.

Neymar left Barcelona last summer for a world record €222 million and took the Ligue 1 on storm with his performances. In the league, he has scored 19 goals from 20 games before he was out injured.

In the Champions League, however, the Parisiens weren’t able to overcome a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Madrid and got dumped out in the round of 16 itself.

The Brazilian might have just forgotten to mention the names of the duo or it could just have been the case of the famous pair’s names being so obvious that he didn’t deem it necessary to mention them.
