Manchester United have made a firm offer for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski are said to be in the driver’s seat to clinch the striker’s signature according to reports from Germany.
German media outlet Kicker, has reported that Red Devils are indeed in pole position to acquire the Poland international’s services and have made an “approach” to sign the 29-year-old.
Manchester United are the only club to have made an approach for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski while Real Madrid dither according to Kicker in Germany.

Lewandowski’s future has been up in the air ever since he switched agents earlier this season. After working with Polish agent Cezary Kucharski, the Polish international recently joined hands with Israeli super-agent Pini Zahavi – a move many claimed to have been made with an eye for a move away from the Bundesliga.
The prolific forward has long been linked with Real Madrid. However, according to the report from Kicker, the Blancos are said to be “dithering” over a move for the Bayern man.
Chelsea have also been told to have entered the fray in recent times as well.
The perfect man for Manchester United?
‘Lewa’, as he is fondly known is under contract with the Bavarians till 2021. However, the financial prowess of Manchester United coupled with the fact that former Dortmund striker will be entering his 30s next season might prompt the Bundesliga champions to consider the bid for him.
The forward has been one of the most prolific scorers in Europe in the last decade – having scored 20 goals or more every season since 2011/12. He currently has 28 strikes to his name for Bayern this season in all competitions.
Manchester United have fortified their frontline by the addition of Zlatan Ibrahimović and Romelu Lukaku in the past couple of seasons. However, Jose Mourinho realises that the squad would need to be bolstered further if they are to challenge the might of Manchester City in the coming seasons.
City are currently enjoy a 16-point gap at the top of the Premier League table.
Ibrahimović became a firm fan favourite – being a stand out player in his first season at the club. The Swede’s season was, however, cut short due to a nasty knee injury. And even though he made a quicker-than-expected recovery, he has looked a pale shadow of his former self.

Lukaku was brought in the summer for a massive sum of £75million. The Belgian has scored 18 goals in all competitions so far but has been criticised for his lacklustre performances against the big teams.
Whilst many would still want to see Lukaku realise his potential and be given, Lewandowski would be a terrific signing for any team, let alone United.
His arrival not only brings in goals and an assured finisher amongst Mourinho’s rank but also signals an intent to challenge for the Premier League title – something they have not won since 2013.
